Resort Ayia Napa (Ayia Napa) is located in the east of the island of Cyprus, on the Mediterranean coast, in the Famagusta area, near the Cape Greco.
Ayia Napa is the most fun and youth resort in Cyprus. The name can be translated as "sacred forest", because in the past it was a small quiet village. At the present time there are not many quiet places left: at every step you can find restaurants, bars, shops, nightclubs and discos. It is more like young people and lovers of active pastime, not without reason the resort is called "Cypriot Las Vegas" and "Cyprus Ibiza". True Mayor of Ayia Napa Yannis Karusos said in March 2018, that the city authorities intend to end this image, since they decided to turn Ayia Napa into "the most cosmopolitan resort of the Mediterranean".
The beaches of Ayia Napa are perfect for family couples with children, as there are almost no waves at sea (this is due to the city's good location). Transparent water, lack of typical for the country northeasterly wind and a wide range of entertainment, both for adults and for children (water park WaterWorld, water sports) - this is the visiting card of this paradise. The entire coast is soft golden sand, and Nissi Beach is considered to be the best beach on the island.
Rest in Ayia Napa, we also advise lovers to eat delicious. Local wine is known far beyond Cyprus, and national cuisine with a variety of meat, fish and potato dishes will pleasantly surprise even the most sophisticated gourmets.
The nearest airport is in Larnaca. There are many direct and connecting flights from Russia and the CIS countries. Get to the airport from Ayia Napa by bus, taxi or by renting a car.
Near the exit from the terminal there is a bus stop that goes to the resort. The fare is in the 10 area of the euro.
If you want a comfortable trip directly to the hotel, it is better to take a taxi. The cost is in the area of 40-60 euro, the trip takes about an hour. You can also book a transfer from the airport in advance.
For independent trips it is better to rent a car. In this case, you will comfortably travel to Cyprus from the first minute of your stay on the island. At the airport and at the resort itself there are rental companies: Avis, Herz, Sixt, Europcar, Budget, Privilege Rent a Car.
Ayia Napa and other resorts of Cyprus link bus routes. Buses arrive and depart from the central square, along the way making stops in the city and close to popular attractions. The fare is 2-10 euro and depends on the distance. You can advancePick uproute buses.
As the resort is small, it can be walked on foot, bicycles (renting 7 euros), motorcycles (15 euros) and quad bikes (50 euro per day). For trips to interesting places on the island, we recommend to rent a car.
There are not many attractions in Ayia Napa, but you can still see:
To most of these places, as well as to the sights of the whole of Cyprus, excursions are offered.
I would like to say about local festivals and festivals, which are especially marked here. Incendiary dances, unrestrained fun, carnival processions - all this can be seen on New Year and Christmas, Shrovetide, All Lovers' Day, at the Festival of Neptune.
Most beaches of Ayia Napa are awarded the Blue Flag for its cleanliness and developed infrastructure. Many of them have good snorkeling, fish swim right next to the shore. The main feature of the city is the absence of the northeast wind, which makes the sea calm at any time. Everywhere are available all kinds of water activities: diving, fishing, boats, catamarans, surfing, jet skis, yachts. There are sun loungers and umbrellas, toilets, showers.
Nissi Beach is one of the best beaches in Ayia Napa and uniquely the most popular. Therefore, it is quite crowded. First of all, it is visited by young people. Here are held in high season daily parties, and the music does not die down almost all night.
More relaxed on the beaches of Landa, Ayia Thekla, Makronisos. Although they will not give solitude, they are quite suitable for family holidays. Some expensive hotels have their own beach areas, which are not as crowded as general ones.
The climate of Ayia Napa is Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters. The sun shines here 300 days a year, in high season the probability of rain is very small. In the summer + 28 ... + 33 degrees (the water warms up to + 25 ... + 27), in winter + 13 ... + 15.
For beach holidays the period from April to November is suitable. And the best months are May and October, when it's not so hot and people are relatively few. In July-August during the day, there are often + 33 ... + 35, and the absence of wind only aggravates the heat.
Hotels in Ayia Napa have from 2 to 5 stars and are ready to accommodate everyone at any time of the year. Usually breakfast is included in the price. At the reception there is almost always an employee speaking Russian, so communication problems should not arise. Prices are comparable to prices in European hotels and more expensive than other resorts in Cyprus. The Internet is everywhere.
In the high season (May to October), when the bulk of tourists come, it is better to book accommodation in advance. The largest selection of housing is presented at the Booking offices.
