Paralimni (English Paralimni, Greek Παραλίμνι) is a resort in the southeast of Cyprus in the Famagusta area, near Ayia Napa and Protaras. The name translates as "Near the lake".
The town itself is located at 3 km from the coast, so it does not have its own beaches. But in a couple of kilometers there are excellent beaches and if you want you can stay at one of the hotels on the coast.
The city center certainly can not be called a noisy tourist place. Here a measured life flows. Nevertheless, there is a whole infrastructure with hotels, restaurants, shops. There are several ancient churches. You can climb to a high hill, from which you can see an excellent panorama.
After the occupation of Cyprus by Turkey, Paralimni instead of Famagusta became the economic and administrative center of the entire eastern region of the Greek part of the island.
The nearest airport to Paralimni - Larnaca International Airport is in Larnaca, at 60 km. There are three ways to get from there.
Directly from the airport to Paralimni there is no public transport. Therefore, you will first have to drive to Larnaca, namely to the stop of Finikoudes Promenade (journey time about 15 minutes). The bus stop is located at 100 meters from the second floor of the airport. Then change to bus company Intercity Buses on the route Larnaca - Ayia Napa - Paralimni. Go for about an hour. Also there is route from Paphos.
From the airport directly to the hotel in Paralimni you can get only by taxi. The cost of the trip is from 45 euro. Travel time is 45 minutes. A shuttle service can also be arranged in advance.
To enable you to explore all the corners of Cyprus, we recommend renting a car. The airport has the largest selection of cars, there are rental companies with a worldwide reputation: Avis, Herz, Sixt, Europcar, Budget, Privilege Rent a Car. Independently by car, you can get to Paralimni from the airport or Larnaka via the A3 high-speed highway, until it ends on a circle. To the right there will be a congress to Ayia Napa, and to the left - towards Paralimni.
There is a well-developed network in Cyprus bus routes. Trip is 1,5 euro. Also you can buy a travel card for 1 day for 5 euro or for a week for 20 euro. What's nice, public transport goes at night, though the tariff grows to 2,5 euros, and travel cards do not work.
In Cyprus, a large selection of vehicles for rent: cars (from 25 euro / day), motorcycles (15 euro), scooters, buggies, ATVs, bicycles (6 euros).
For comfortable trips around the city and you can use a taxi. Landing costs about 4 euros, and then 70 euro cents for 1 km. It is possible to book a transfer from the airport.

The beach of Malama (Malama Beach) has a gentle entrance to the water, available hotels and villas on the coast. Nearby is the water fun center Kapparis Waterfun.
Agia Triada Beach is located at 4 km from Paralimni, received the Blue Flag for its cleanliness and developed infrastructure. The entrance to the water is gentle, perfect for families with children. Nearby is the harbor for boats and yachts.
Sandy beach Kapparis (Kapparis Beach, Fireman's Beach) does not have hotels near the sea, but there are several cafes right on the beach. The entrance to the water is gentle.

The climate of Paralimni is Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters. The main amount of precipitation falls in December-February, and from June to September, rains are virtually excluded. In the summer + 28 ... + 33 degrees (the water warms up to + 25 ... + 27), in winter + 13 ... + 15.
For beach holidays the period from the end of April to November is suitable. The best months are May and October, when not so hot and having a rest less. In July-August during the day, there are often + 33 ... + 35, and the absence of wind only aggravates the heat.
In Paralimni enough housing, there are hotels, villas, a large selection of apartments. Budget accommodation is located within the city, a few kilometers from the coast. But basically everyone lives next to the sea.
For high season in Cyprus, from May to September, accommodation should be booked in advance, for 3-4 months, because the influx of holidaymakers is very large.
