Cyprus Finance Minister Harris Georgiadis said that Cyprus's reputation as a financial center needs further improvement.
"Maintaining a positive outlook for the service sector and expanding it in new areas such as investment fund management requires full compliance with strict international and European standards," Georgiades told delegates at the annual meeting of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) on Wednesday evening, speaking on behalf of the name of President Nicos Anastasiadis.
It should be noted that earlier Cyprus jurisdiction had some reputational difficulties, but in recent years a number of positive amendments to the relevant laws have been adopted, and work has also been carried out in the field of PR in order to improve the international image of Cyprus.
Indeed, the country is no longer spoken of as an offshore zone from the "black list", however, as Mr. Georgadis noted, there is still something to strive for. It is in this direction that work is carried out, involving the country's largest political figures, such as the head of the Central Bank of Cyprus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the head of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission and others.
