The new library of the University of Cyprus, designed by the famous French architect Jean Nouvel, is completing its construction.
Elena Diomed Parpunas, deputy director of the University of Cyprus, said that the library will be ready by the beginning of the new school year in September, but will open its doors to visitors in December.
The new five-story library building has an area of 15,700 meters and is named after Stelios Ioannou. The building will house more than 620 000 volumes and about 190 000 editions in electronic form, more than 12 000 electronic and printed magazines and much more.
The library will be open to all citizens, and will also serve as an excellent research base for scientists.
