Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias called his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov one of the best diplomats in the world in an interview with the Athens Information Agency AMNA.
"Sergei Lavrov, whom I consider to be one of the best diplomats operating in the international arena and (with whom) we have friendly relations, asked me to invite him," Tass quotes him.
According to him, Lavrov was to arrive in Athens to prepare the visit of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to Moscow.
"I made this invitation, if he wants - he will come, if he does not want - he will not come, in any case we would welcome his visit," said Kotzias.
Recall, 19 July it became known that Lavrov's visit to Athens was canceled, since in the "current situation" associated with the expulsion of Russian diplomats from Greece, he "loses relevance".
