St. Spyridon of Trimiphound was born at the end of the 3rd century on the island of Cyprus. It is known that he was a shepherd, had a wife and children. All his funds the future saint gave for the needs of his neighbors and strangers, for which he was rewarded with the gift of miracles and the healing of the hopelessly sick. After the death of his wife, Spiridon was elected bishop of the city of Trimiphunt. According to the church tradition, St. Spyridon performed many miracles: according to his prayers, the drought ceased, the sick were healed, the oil in the church lamp multiplied. Seeing the secret sins of people, the saint called them to repentance and correction. He himself, even as a bishop, still grazed the sheep and worked in the field.
His last words were about the love of God and fellow man. Around 348 during the prayer, St. Spyridon died and was buried in the Church of the Holy Apostles in Trimifount. In the middle of the 7th century his relics were transferred to Constantinople, and in 1453 to Corfu. Here, in the city of Corfu, they are still kept in the temple in the name of Spiridon of Trimiphunt.
