Dams and reservoirs Cyprus

Cyprus - an island of Eurasia, which is in the eastern Mediterranean, south of Turkey and west of Syria and north of Egypt.

It is the third largest island in the Mediterranean after the Italian islands of Sicily and Sardinia. The total area of ​​Cyprus takes 81-place in the world and 49-place in terms of population.
On the island is dominated by two mountain ranges, the Troodos Mountains and Kyrenia.

Troodos Mountains cover the southern and western part of the island, which is approximately half of the island. Olympus - the highest mountain in Cyprus, located in the center of the Troodos mountain range. Kyrenia Mountains are located on the northern coast of the island and occupy a much smaller area.

On the island there is a lack of water, so here is 107 dams (another dam is currently under construction). They are the main source of water for domestic and agricultural use.

  • Dam Achna. Biggest carp here, however, you can also catch a large bass or catfish.
  • Reservoir Argaka. There are a lot of carp, mosquito fish, catfish.
  • Reservoir Arminou. You can catch carp, trout, mosquito fish, silver bream.
  • Dam Asprokremmos. There are many big carp and Bass.
  • Reservoir Dhypotamos. Here is a very large variety of fish: carp, tench, bass, walleye, catfish.
