The former Prime Minister of Greece and the father of the current head of the main opposition New Democracy party, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Konstantinos Mitsotakis, died at 99 year of life. About itreportedAthens Information Agency.
"Today in 01: 00 local time (coincides with Moscow), Konstantinos Mitsotakis died, surrounded by people who loved him," the ex-premier's family said.
Mitsotakis was born in the city of Chania in Crete. He was the nephew of an outstanding politician, multiple Prime Minister Eleftherios Venizelos and the father of the current head of the main opposition New Democracy party, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Konstantinos Mitsotakis created in 1977 the Party of New Liberals, in 1978 together with his party members joined the ranks of the New Democracy (ND), and later headed the ND. He was Prime Minister of Greece with 1990 for 1993 year. After the defeat in the election of 1993, he left the post of leader of the "New Democracy", becoming the honorary chairman of this party.
