"Justice in American way" makes the whole world worry, said the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, criticizing the decision of the jury of the US jury on the case of the deputy director of the Turkish Halkbank, Mehmet Khakas Atilla, who was accused of violating sanctions against Iran.
"If this is American justice, then the world has to worry. Such an approach to justice is unacceptable, "RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
"After that, Americans still manage to teach him peace. International law, as well as bilateral legal relations, lose force with this approach, "Erdogan added.
Earlier, the jury in the US recognized Atilla as guilty of trying to help Iran circumvent US sanctions. As expected, the verdict will be announced on 11 April.
Arrived from Turkey in the US Atilla was arrested in March 2017. Mevlut Cavusoglu, the head of the Turkish foreign ministry, noted that the arrest of Atilla in the US was carried out on the initiative of FETO supporters (an organization of the Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen whose extradition Ankara seeks).
Earlier, Erdogan called American justice "a real scandal". He also said that the US wants to "punish, condemn and discredit" Turkey.
