The EU has tightened the border crossing rules of the Schengen area

The statement noted that the tightening of controls will increase the length of border checks, reports RT.

As noted in the document, the European Parliament and the Council tightened the laws relating to crossing the external borders because of the continuing threat of terrorist attacks in Europe.

Recall, March 7, the EU Council decided to tighten regulations of passport control at the external borders of the Schengen visa-free zone, including land border crossings, ports, terminals, railway stations and airports.

Developing solutions began investigations after the attacks in France, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, as a result of which it became clear that the terrorists with European citizenship, is on the international wanted list, can move freely in the EU, as well as go through Turkey to Syria and to come back.

Add now in the Schengen area 22 28 from EU countries, participants of the agreement are not the UK, Ireland and Cyprus, and Romania, Croatia and Bulgaria are going to join the community.
