Germany allowed to build in its waters "Nord Stream - 2"

The operator of the Nord Stream-2 project, AG, received permission to lay the offshore section of the gas pipeline in the territorial waters of Germany.

"Today, Nord Stream 2 AG received permission to build and operate the offshore section of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline in the territorial waters of Germany and the land area in the vicinity of Lubmin near Greifswald. The Stralsund mining department issued an official permit for the construction of the 55-kilometer section of the gas pipeline in accordance with the law on the energy industry, "RIA Novosti reports to AG.

"This permission is an important step in the complex process of obtaining permits for this project," said Jens Lange, manager of permitting in Germany for Nord Stream 2 AG.

Note that in November last year the Stralsund Ministry issued a permit for work in the area of the continental shelf of Germany (an analogue of the exclusive economic zone).

The German Shipping and Hydrographic Agency plans to finalize the approval of the Nord Stream-2 project in February, Tass notes.

However, a few days ago, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Moravetsky said that Warsaw calls on Washington to extend sanctions for the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. Prior to this, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, after meeting with Mateusz Moravetski, stated that the project of the Russian gas pipeline "Nord Stream - 2" undermines the stability of Europe.
