Places in Cyprus is in danger due to the dumping of waste and chemicals into the reservoir

The head of the village municipality Kiperunta George Panayiotou said that "the treated water from the sewage system of the village gets to Kouris dam." Thus, the dam supplies water to Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol, polluting chemical waste discharged to local hospital.

Panayiotou added that the problem with the sewerage system exists to 2002 years and almost 15 years remains unresolved.

Kouris Dam "feeds" water-purifying plant in Limassol, which covers the needs of the city and 12 municipalities and communities in the western part of the island. In addition, water from the Kouris arrives at the refinery, which covers most of the areas of Larnaca and Nicosia.
