Greek nuns visited Russia

A group of monastics, from the Monastery of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Ormylia, visited Zachatievsky Stauropegial Convent (Russia, Moscow).

The Monastery of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos in Ormylia, Greece's largest convent, is the home of the monastery Simonopetra of the Holy Mount Athos. In the monastery of Ormylia (the monastery is called by the name of a nearby village), 107 novices live under the guidance of Abbess Nikodima, who is, like most sisters, the spiritual daughter of Archimandrite Emilian (Wafidis), who inspired a whole generation of young people in Greece in the middle of 1960-1970 To the spiritual life, to the search for "One on demand."

A group of 9 nuns was headed by Hieromonk Serapion, a resident of the monastery of Simonopetra, who has been performing for more than 40 years the obedience of the construction economist in Ormylia. The sisters first came to Russia and wished to visit as many holy places as possible. The group was accompanied by sisters from the Alexander Nevsky Novo-Tikhvinsky Monastery, organizing a program for the stay of Greek guests in Russia. Mother Abbess and her sisters met guests at the monastery and conducted a detailed study tour of the shrines of the Zachatievsky Monastery and the church and historical museum of the monastery.

During the three days of pilgrimage in Moscow, the guests visited the Holy Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, the Protection of the Virgin Mary Monastery, the Sretensky Monastery, took part in the relics of St. Nicholas and took part in a sightseeing tour at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, visited the churches and museums of the Moscow Kremlin and the Tretyakov Gallery, They honored the memory of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church at Butovo.

While hosting the guests, the sisters of the Convent of Zachatiev received an amazing opportunity to get to know the life of the nuns of the famous women's monastery, to hear the words of the living monastic experience, to acquire a small experience of communication.

Parting with the father of Serapion and the sisters who were already close, all the sisters realized the inseparable unity of those who seek God and live in the ministry of the Church.

After the stay in Zachatievsky monastery (with 25 / 06 on 28 / 06) the Greek guests left for their homeland.
