Greece increased its imports of gas from Russia to 20,6%

Greece in January and February 2017 has increased gas imports from Russia to 20,6% compared to the same period last year, said the report "Gazprom".

"In January and February 2017, the positive dynamics of demand remained Greece imported Russian gas to 20,6% more than in the same period of 2016 years", - said in a statement.

In 2016 year "Gazprom" increased its gas exports to Greece to 35% compared to the year 2015 - 2,68 billion cubic meters up.

On Tuesday, the Chairman of the Board of "Gazprom" Alexey Miller and the General Secretary of the Greek Foreign Ministry for International Economic Relations Giorgos Tsipras discussed the transit of gas from Russia via Greece to Italy in the framework of "Turkish stream", the report says.

Russian "Gazprom", the Italian Edison and Greek DEPA in February 2016 year signed a memorandum on gas supplies from Russia under the Black Sea through third countries to Greece and from Greece to Italy for the organization of the southern route of Russian gas supplies to Europe. For this purpose, the parties intend to make maximum use of the results of work carried out by Edison and DEPA, the project ITGI Poseidon.
