Plans for the creation of security zones in Syria have allowed Russian President Vladimir Putin to seize the initiative and "strategic heights" in the region, writes The Guardian.
"It seems that Vladimir Putin has again seized the strategic height and initiative in Syria due to the achievement of agreements on security zones in some areas of Syria after peregovorovs Donald Trump, Turkey and Iran," - reports TASS article author a column in The Guardian Hamish de Bretton-Gordon.
De Bretton-Gordon believes that the process of creation and realization of the idea of de-escalation of the zones will not be easy. In this regard, he expressed hope for an active position of the US administration led by President Donald Trump.
The solution of future problems, author of the article continues, "will require the full support and agreement with the Turkish, Russian, Iranian, American, British and UN sides." The author emphasizes that it is needed for an extended period of time.
Recall that in Astana adopted a memorandum of four security zones in Syria. Russia, Iran and Turkey are the countries-guarantors of the agreement.
