President Nikos Anastasiadis noted that Cyprus is not only a popular destination for Russians, but also an important tourist market.
Cyprus is working to increase the tourist flow from Russia and improve the quality of services provided to Russian tourists. This was announced in an interview with TASS on the eve of his visit to Moscow by the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis.
"We constantly strive to improve the air communication between our two countries, which in principle is one of the main priorities of my government, and also focus on providing even better services to Russian tourists," he said.
As Anastasiadis noted, Cyprus is not only a popular destination for Russians, but also an important tourist market. So, according to him, the influx of holidaymakers from the Russian Federation increased rapidly from 129889 people in 2000 to 781634 in 2016.
"According to some estimates, this year we will see the largest number of tourists from Russia ever recorded in Cyprus," the spokesman said.
The President of Cyprus begins his official visit to Russia on Monday. On the same day, he will meet with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, and his talks with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin are scheduled for Tuesday.
