Delegations of the DPRK and South Korea have started negotiations, during which the opportunity and details of the participation of athletes from North Korea in the 2018 Olympiad will be discussed, the Japanese media reported.
According to the NHK television channel, during the talks, the number of the delegation and the support group of the DPRK, the way they will enter South Korea and the opportunity to speak as a single team will be discussed, RIA Novosti reports.
Negotiations are held in the demilitarized zone at the point of Panmunjom. Seoul is represented at the talks by the Deputy Minister for National Association of Cheong Ho Son, North Korea is represented by the vice chairman of the committee for the peaceful reunification of the motherland, Chung Jeong-soo.
Recall earlier reported that athletes from the DPRK and South Korea can pass at the opening of the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang under the flag of the union, if the parties reach an agreement on the joint release of teams.
It was also reported that South Korea and North Korea intend to hold 17 January preparatory negotiations on the participation of North Korean athletes in the Olympics in Pyeongchang.
