Lithuanian Special services required to bury the project to build one of the largest in the EU data centers. According to security officials, if the stretch cord to the Russian border, the center could become a branch of the FSB. Management is building a data center of the company in an interview with LOOK newspaper reminded that if you want to transfer any data to the FSB can be through the Internet, but Vilnius is resolute.
The Lithuanian government commission called to stop the project of Arcus Novus company to create AmberCore, the largest in the country, near Vilnius. As it became known on Monday, such a decision was made out of fears of the project's connection with the FSB of Russia, the head of the State Security Department of Lithuania Darius Jaunishkis stated. "According to the State Children's Library, the project of the AmberCore data center developed by Arcus Novus due to its links with the FSB of Russia jeopardizes the national security of Lithuania", - quotes Delfi Jaunishkisa. The publication notes that the State Security Council warned the Lithuanian government that if the center is connected to Russia by fiber-optic lines, AmberCore could allegedly be connected to the FSB radio intelligence center.
In last year's State Security Department of Lithuania report also said that in the country as a whole there was a favorable situation for espionage - by virtue of the broad capabilities of information technology infrastructure in Lithuania.
600 server enclosures
Recall data center near Vilnius to become the largest in Lithuania - it was reported that could be 600 server cabinets. Investments may be about 60 million. To create AmberCore DC entered into a partnership agreement with the American company IBM. Representatives of the companies previously talked about the advantages of Lithuania to accommodate data centers - a geographic proximity to many customers and politically safe environment. However, it seems they are a bit wrong with the "environment."
The project began in 2012 year, exactly a year ago the company received a building permit, but it has not started yet. According to the director of Amber Core DC Marketing Gintautas Mejjatis, if financing is provided, the construction will begin this year. "We held a tender for a construction contractor, but so far it has not been appointed. We will do this as soon as we receive funding, "BNS Mjajatis said. "We plan to start construction this year, it should be completed within 12-15 months." According to him, lending for the project is planned to be received in financial institutions of Great Britain.
According to the Centre of Registers, 51% of shares of the parent company Arcus Novus owned company registered in Denmark Satgate Holding, and 49% - Kaliningrad businessman Valery Avetisyantsu, who previously worked in the companies "Gazinvest groups" and "Gazprom equipment". The receptionist could not provide Avetisyantsa newspaper comment operational VIEW.
Moskaliuk scared Lithuanian intelligence
According to BNS, Lithuanian reconnaissance established that the company also control other Russians: Kirill Lupandin, CEO AmberCore DC, Vitaly Malashevska, the head of the enterprise group SatGate Arcus Novus, and Boris Moskaliuk.
Kirill himself Lupandin told the newspaper VIEW: "Shares of companies that are engaged in the creation of the center, really speak Russian citizens, but among the shareholders and managers there are also citizens of Lithuania, we have a mixed ownership". According to him, the project is still in force, since appealed to the Administrative Court.
It turned out that the committee has appeared in the past year, and the company Arcus Novus, and its "daughter» AmberCore DC had already sued, trying to challenge the sentence. Vilnius Regional Administrative Court in September refused to accept the complaint. However, the Chief Administrative Court of Lithuania in January 4 returned his complaint for a new consideration. Companies in its lawsuit emphasize that the Commission decision are offensive to business reputation and false statements.
Do not confirm in the company and plans to reach a fiber-optic cable in Russia. The charges, according Lupandina generally difficult to comment in any way. "If you look at the overall structure of the Internet, the way it works, this network connects everyone to everyone. Any additional action in order to transmit the information somewhere, do not need, "- he said.
Lupandin added that the center will work with commercial companies throughout the world, because this is his destiny. The meaning of this business, he said, is not in the compound - are engaged in telecom operators. "Center - just a place where the servers are located. We are not a telecom operator and one with anyone, including with the FSB, we are not going to connect. I think the court will understand in this matter, "- he hopes.
"If to us as a client address any military organization of any country, its application will be considered on a general basis. This is a purely commercial business, we operate in full compliance with the legislation of the host country, and not the other way "- he explained.
The rest, according to Lupandina just fantasy. "We are in the legal field in Lithuania, and there are no secrets. But the global information environment affects everyone ", - concluded the businessman.
Most of the "Russian-speaking" programmers
The head of the consultancy building the data center of Pact Consulting LLC Julius also explained to the newspaper LOOK that the center does not plan cooperation with the military or storage of defense data. In general, data storage will depend only on customers. "Companies that purchase the services of the center, in fact, simply order the capacity. In general, this can be information from any country and from any industry, "he said. According to him, the center plans to work with companies around the world, including from Russia, without any restrictions. "To limit cooperation with the center can only solvency", - said Wexler.
The leader of the Socialist People's Front of Lithuania, former vice mayor of Vilnius, Algirdas Paleckis, in his turn told the VZGLYAD newspaper that an atmosphere was created in Lithuania when everywhere everyone is looking for external enemies, primarily in Russia. "In Lithuania, now there is such an atmosphere that it is difficult to distinguish whether this or that news, this or that policy or official's action has a real basis or is part of the propaganda. To distinguish fiction from reality is very difficult. Especially such anti-Russian publications became more frequent in the light of the scandal surrounding the hacker attacks that was inflated by the Americans. But we somehow got used to it already ", - the Lithuanian politician complained.
Russian IT-specialist, managing partner of "Ashmanov and Partners" Igor Ashmanov said: Americans seeking Russian hackers everywhere, so in this case, and Lithuanians live exclusively in the media reality.
"In the Baltic countries it has become a tradition: politics and the military sometimes have to scare the possible Russian invasion, and, apparently, the agency responsible for security, - to deal with the FSB", - said the expert. Ashmanov noted that the information that is available, data center under construction - it is a commercial center, where the information will be stored by private companies. "Even if the shares of the company, engaged in its creation, owned by Russian citizens, it does not mean that it will be connected to the center of electronic intelligence of the FSB", - he explained to the newspaper VIEW.
Ashmanov agree that in Lithuania really fast evolving information technologies. "The penetration of Internet infrastructure are well developed in Lithuania, Lithuanians received international grants for development of the Internet. I myself went to open one of the startups in Lithuania. At the same time the creators of the local technological platforms want, on the one hand, to involve Russian programmers, on the other hand - foreign investors, because Lithuania itself is located in the European Union ", - said Ashmanov.
However, according to Ashmanova, information security does not depend on the level of transparency and the level of protection. "The hacker, of course, easier to hack anything at a faster Internet, but it does not matter, even if the country has a serious computer addiction public data from the Internet. Similar situation is in Russia ", - he explained. Protection from hackers, according Ashmanova can skilled personnel. "In Lithuania, which, incidentally, is sufficient. However, most programmers it Russian or Russian-speaking ", - the expert added.
