The French authorities decided not to insist on the departure of Syrian President Bashar Assad, said the head of the Fifth Republic Emmanuel Macron at a briefing after talks with US leader Donald Trump.
"We have changed the French doctrine regarding Syria," the French president said.
The priority of Paris on Syria is now the fight against terrorism, said Makron, the words of which leads RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Makron had already stated that he did not make Assad's displacement a precondition for further actions to resolve the conflict.
The previous president of France, França Alland, stated that Assad could have no role in the future of the country.
