Cyprus Ministry of Justice announced stringent measures to combat corruption in police

The Minister of Justice of Cyprus Ionas Nicolaou said Tuesday that disciplinary action will be taken against any police officer involved in corruption.

"Regardless of the degree of criminal responsibility, the Ministry of Justice in collaboration with the police will seek disciplinary action against any corrupt police officer" - said Nicholas, promised to take all measures to prevent and eradicate this phenomenon.

"Cabinet has sent six of the eight proposed bills in the House of Representatives, who have priority and will be addressed in the near future", - said Nikolay.

"Disciplinary action will be revised to jail terms of up to five years and fines of up to 10 thousand euro", - said Nicolaou.
