Greek police fired tear gas against demonstrators in Athens

Anarchist group in masks attacked the police department during the rally in Syntagma Square in central Athens, police responded with tear gas, according to the Greek public television ERT.

On Wednesday in Greece held a general strike against the policy of "belt-tightening". In Athens the demonstration went over 10 thousand. The strike was planned in connection with the vote of May 18 in parliament on the bill provides for the reduction from the year 2019 pensions, salaries, tax increases, energy reform.

On Syntagma Square there was a group of anarchists in masks that conceal the face, with batons, stones and hammers. They immediately attacked the police standing in cordon near the hotel "Great Britain".
