The Syrian president said about the impossibility to work with Trump

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad says Russia the only real force that is fighting with the terrorist group "Islamic state" (IG, banned in Russia), and does not see the possibility of practical cooperation in this field with the new US administration. "The only serious side in this regard - it is Russia, which is effectively at war with IG in cooperation with us" - said the head of state.

At the same time, he said, to Damascus theory he sees opportunities for cooperation with the US president Donald Trump in the fight against terrorism, but in practice this is not happening. "Because between Syria and the United States there is no connection at the official level," - said Assad.

The President noted that US raids against IG "passed without cooperation or consultation with the Syrian army and the Syrian government, that is illegal." He also noted that the fight against terrorism "can not be conducted only at the local level, should be comprehensive and not partial or temporary." That is why Russia, which not only struck from the air, but also collaborated with the military on the ground and supported by the Syrian army, as has succeeded, said Assad.

He also relied on the end of the civil war in the country in the year 2017. "We always hope that this year will be the last. However, this is war, and you never know what can happen, "- he said.
