President Vladimir Putin flew to the Russian air base Khmeimim, located in the Syrian province of Latakia on Monday morning.
To the place of building personnel at the airbase Khmeimim, the Russian leader came to the military UAZ.
At the airfield of Khmeimim Putin met Syrian President Bashar Assad, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and the commander of the Russian group in Syria, Sergei Surovikin, RIA Novosti reported.
Note that on December 11, Putin's visit to Turkey and Egypt was also announced.
In March of 2016, Putin decided to withdraw most of the Russian VCS grouping due to the successful fulfillment of the tasks. At the same time, Russia has not abandoned its obligations to supply weapons and military equipment to Damascus and train military specialists.
