Russian President Vladimir Putin met with former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who arrived in Russia for the Primakov Readings conference, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Peskov said that for many years Putin and Kissinger have maintained a warm personal relationship, so that when there is an opportunity, they hold meetings, Tass reports.
The previous meeting between the Russian president and the former head of the State Department was held last February. The meeting took place in the residence of Putin in Novo-Ogarevo.
Recall, Peskov said that Kissinger is well acquainted with the history and philosophy of Russia and has good relations with Putin, but this does not mean that the former American politician in all agree with the position of Moscow.
Kissinger stated that the Russian president clearly calculates and firmly defends the national interests of his state.
He also noted the sense of Putin's inner connection with Russian history.
Kissinger advised Washington to abandon the "indulgent tone" in the dialogue with Moscow.
