Russian President Vladimir Putin in his New Year's address wished all the citizens of the country success and prosperity, "peace and prosperity of our beloved and only Russia".
The first New Year's greetings of the president were seen by the residents of Kamchatka, RIA Novosti reports.
Putin recalled that "New Year is our first and foremost family holiday", which is celebrated as "in the childhood: with gifts and surprises, with special warmth, with the expectation of important changes." He expressed confidence that "they will inevitably come into our lives", for this we need to "remember our parents, cherish them, appreciate every minute they spend with them," and also "understand their children, their aspirations and dreams more." In addition, the president called for "supporting those who are around, who need our participation and sincere generosity," Tass reports.
Putin said that we need to "say each other the most cherished words, forgive mistakes, resentment, embrace, admit to love, warm with care and attention."
He wished that in 2018 the life of "every person" would change for the better, that "everyone would be healthy, that children would be born and that they would please us".
The President "cordially thanked" the Russians "for believing in themselves and for our country, for their work and its results." He expressed the hope that "trust and mutual understanding" will always accompany us.
Separately, the head of state congratulated the citizens of Russia, who on the holiday "work, perform military or professional duty, are on duty in hospitals, conduct planes and trains".
"We are together on this beautiful New Year's Eve. We are together and in our common everyday affairs. Cohesion, friendship, and unselfish love for Russia multiply our forces for worthy deeds and high achievements, "he said.
The President stressed that both "at the family table" and "in a cheerful company" and "on the festive streets" of Russians "unites an upbeat New Year mood."
Putin noted that today the technology "allows us to share our feelings with dear people who can be hundreds, thousands of kilometers away."
Vladimir Putin:Dear friends!
On the threshold of a new, 2018 year. Of course, this holiday comes to us every year, but all the same we perceive it as new, kind, desired; we believe that everything that is conceived during these moments, all our hopes will be fulfilled.
New Year for us is, above all, a family holiday. We celebrate it as it was in our childhood: with gifts and surprises, with special warmth, with the expectation of important changes.
And they will necessarily come into our lives, if each of us will always remember our parents, cherish them, appreciate every minute spent with them, if we understand our children more, their aspirations and dreams, support those who are close, who needs in our participation and spiritual generosity.
The ability to help, be sensitive, give goodness fills life with a true, human sense. Wherever we are: at a family table, in a cheerful company, on festive streets, - we are united by an upbeat New Year mood, and modern technologies allow us to share our feelings with dear people who can be hundreds, thousands of kilometers away.
And, as always, my special congratulations to everyone who works now, performs military or professional duty, is on duty in hospitals, leads planes and trains.
We are together on this beautiful New Year's Eve. We are together and in our common everyday affairs. Cohesion, friendship, and unselfish love for Russia multiply our forces for worthy deeds and high achievements.
I want to sincerely thank everyone for their faith in themselves and for our country, for their work and their results. Let trust and mutual understanding always accompany us.
Before the advent of 2018, there were literally seconds left. It's time to tell each other the most cherished words, forgive mistakes, resentments, hug, confess love, warm with care and attention.
Let in the new year in the life of every person, each family, there will be changes for the better, so that everyone will be healthy, so that children will be born and that they will please us.
I sincerely wish you all success and prosperity. Peace and prosperity of our great Russia - our beloved and unique!
Be happy! Happy holiday - with a new, 2018 year!
In 2016, Putin, in the New Year's address, noted that the year was not easy, but the difficulties faced by Russia rallied the citizens of the country. In his address, the head of state also reminded those who are celebrating the New Year far from their homeland.
In 2015, the President especially congratulated on the holiday "those of our servicemen who fight international terrorism, defend the national interests of Russia at distant fronts." He recalled that in 2015, Russia celebrated the 70 anniversary of the Great Victory.
In 2014, he thanked the Russians for their solidarity and readiness to defend the country's interests, and as an example of the implementation of the plans, he led the Olympic Games in Sochi.
And in 2013, Putin, breaking a long-standing tradition, made two New Year's addresses to the Russians.
In 2012, he stressed that "personal plans are inseparable from Russia, from cordial, noble sentiments to their homeland."
