Reduced hourly wage in Cyprus

Average hourly earnings in Cyprus fell 6,5% in the fourth quarter 2013 year compared with the same period a year 2012. In the euro area hourly wage increased by 1,4%, while in the EU - 1,2%.

The total volume of hourly pay in the Cypriot industry fell 4,6%, compared with an average increase of 1,7% in the euro area and by 1,5% in the EU.

Payment in construction in Cyprus decreased 6,4%, compared with an increase of 0,3% in the euro area and by 0,5% in the EU. Hourly labor costs in the services sector in Cyprus fell 5,5% against an increase on 0,9% in the euro area and the EU.

Data on the increase in the average hourly total wages in the fourth quarter 2013 year compared with the same period totaled 2012 by Country: Cyprus-6,5%, Portugal-0,4%, Slovenia + 2,2%, Luxembourg + 2,8%, Malta + 0,8% Holland + 1,4%, Austria + 2,3%, Finland + 1,9%, Spain + 3,1%, Ireland + 0,7%, France + 0,3%, Slovakia + 1,9%, Belgium + 1,6%, Germany + 2,0%, Estonia + 7,2% Italy + 1,6%.
