Demand for cars in Cyprus has peaked since 2009 year

The number of passenger car registrations in Cyprus increased by 29% to 36 067 in 2017, according to Cystat. This is the highest level with 2009. The growth was mainly due to the demand for used cars.

The number of new car registrations last year increased by 5,2% to 13 118, which became the maximum with 2011. But the demand for used cars grew even stronger. The number of their registrations increased by 48% to 22 949.

In December, 2618 passenger cars were registered, or 14% more than a year ago. At the same time, the number of new car registrations decreased by 14% in annual terms to 715.
