The court of Cyprus gave the Greek 10 years of prison for smuggling drugs

56-year-old Greek citizen was sentenced to 10 years in prison for import, storage and distribution of drugs.

The man was arrested 2 May at the Paphos airport while trying to import into Cyprus 16,5 kg of cannabis, hidden in his luggage. He had to hand over the drugs to a third party.

It is reported that this is a record number of drugs ever found at Paphos airport.

The detention was carried out after the Cypriot police were informed of the possible smuggling of their colleagues from Greece and Interpol.

The convict claimed that he was paid for the delivery of the bag to Cyprus, and he did not know who the cargo was intended for.
