The text of the anthem of Canada became "gender neutral"

The Senate of Canada approved in the third reading a bill that introduces "gender neutral" changes to the text of the national anthem.

In the text of the hymn the words "sons" (thy sons) will be changed to "us" (of us) will be replaced, the upper house of the Canadian parliament reports in Twitter.

The author of the bill was a member of the Liberal Party, Moril Belanger.

The project was approved by the House of Commons in 2016.
