Trump and Merkel stated commitment to a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine

USA, together with Germany and France are committed to the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, said the US president Donald Trump at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. It quoted by RIA Novosti.

Trump said that he highly appreciates the leadership of Merkel and French President Francois Hollande on the issue of settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, where the parties are seeking a peaceful solution.

In turn, Merkel said that the implementation of the Minsk agreements provide an opportunity to improve relations with Russia.

"I am glad that the American administration and the president himself engaged more Minsk process. We need to resolve this issue, on the one hand, to secure and sovereign Ukraine, but also for the opportunity to improve relations with Russia, when the problems will be resolved, "- she said.

The Chancellor expressed her regret that the parties "not so far in the implementation" of agreements. "And we and our experts will work closely on this in the coming months", - she added.

Minsk agreements were adopted at the summit in Minsk in February 2015, the leaders of Germany, France, Ukraine and Russia in the "Normandy format" format. They also prescribe the removal of arms, a ceasefire and the implementation of constitutional reform in Ukraine.
