On Monday, 15 May President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades has taken the decision to dismiss Andreas Kyriakou from the post of the deputy chief of police.
This judgment followed after Attorney General Costas Clerides initiated the investigation of two cases of leakage of confidential information. The prime suspect in both cases, was named the now former deputy chief of police.
According to the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, the maximum penalty for the leak of information - one year in prison and / or a fine of EUR 1700.
New Deputy Police Cyprus appointed Kipros Michaelides. Today, he is sworn in at the Presidential Palace.
