Service OneTwoTrip made a rating of the countries in which Russian travelers usually book cars this summer, and also found out how much it costs. Cyprus took the second place.
The top three leaders in June-August 2018 included Spain, Italy and Greece - these three countries accounted for about 48% of the total number of bookings.
"The rating of popular countries for renting cars in the summer months is expected to be headed by countries with sea resorts and a lot of interesting places where tourists connect beach holidays with sightseeing," says Evgeny Gaponenko, head of car rental and additional services OneTwoTrip.
According to him, on average, car rent costs 2164 rubles per day, which means that even people with a limited budget can afford to travel by car. In Thailand, Cyprus and Turkey, you can rent a car for only 1200-1700 rubles per day, which is comparable to the cost of lunch in a restaurant.
Most expensive rental costs for travelers in the UK - 3420 rubles per day, and the cheapest in Thailand and Cyprus - 1200 rubles and 1300 rubles, respectively.
At the same time, 37% of the clients of the service booked a car for a period of one to four days, 30% for a period of five days to days, 25% - enjoyed rentals for more than a week, and 8% - more than two.
The most popular models for Russian travelers are the Volkswagen Polo, Ford Focus, Volkswagen Golf, Hyundai Solaris and Fiat 500.
