The week of fighting illegal parking on the island began on 28 May and will last until June. The Cyprus police reported this on its official website.
The police of Cyprus continues to restore order on the roads of the island. This week representatives of law enforcement agencies of the country decided to devote to the fight against illegal parking. Particularly attentive policemen will be to careless drivers who leave their cars on sidewalks, bus stops and at specialized places for people with disabilities.
The police claim that illegal parking is much more harmful than it might seem at first glance. In particular, a stop on the sidewalk or at the entrance to the building hinders the normal movement of pedestrians and bears great inconvenience. A car installed at a stop does not allow public transport to safely land and collect passengers. And if the driver just throws the car on the road, it can provoke a traffic jam or even an accident.
Unfortunately, the traffic rules in Cyprus are regularly violated. Most often, drivers drive a car while drunk, exceed speed or talk on a mobile phone while driving.
